Emma Gonzalez, Voice of Change
Emma Gonzalez is a senior at Marjory Stonemason Douglas High School. She's a survivor of the tragic school shooting on February 14, and an activist for change. At a rally, she gave a moving speech about why we need gun control now. I linked the speech below, and I think it needs to be seen. In this speech, she says, "Every single person here today, all these people should be home grieving. But instead we are up here standing together, because if all our president and government can do is send thoughts and prayers , then it's time for victims to be the change that we need to see. " She also brought to attention the fact that a lot of politicians and companies in the U.S today are backed by the NRA (National Rifle Association). She said that NRA backed politicians show that our government cares more about money than the lives of people and children. How can they call themselves "pro-life" when they couldn't care less that kids are dying? Emma Gonzalez
