Emma Gonzalez, Voice of Change

Emma Gonzalez is a senior at Marjory Stonemason Douglas High School. She's a survivor of the tragic school shooting on February 14, and an activist for change. At a rally, she gave a moving speech about why we need gun control now. I linked the speech below, and I think it needs to be seen.  In this speech, she says, "Every single person here today, all these people should be home grieving. But instead we are up here standing together, because if all our president and government can do is send thoughts and prayers, then it's time for victims to be the change that we need to see. "
She also brought to attention the fact that a lot of politicians and companies in the U.S today are backed by the NRA (National Rifle Association). She said that NRA backed politicians show that our government cares more about money than the lives of people and children. How can they call themselves "pro-life" when they couldn't care less that kids are dying? Emma Gonzalez mentions all these issues and more in this powerful speech. She is the face of this movement, and she and her classmates are some of the bravest people I've seen. They stand up for victims of gun violence while our politicians keep supporting the NRA and the second amendment. They fight for gun control to save lives, all while grieving the loss of their classmates and teachers. Emma Gonzalez is the voice of change, and we should all be listening.
